S31254 is a high-alloyed stainless steel, also known as 6% molybdenum super austenitic stainless steel. Its grade and chemical composition is one of the following:
1. Grade: S31254, UNS S31254, W.Nr. 1.4547, F44, 254SMO
2. Ingredients: nickel (Ni) about 17.5-18.5%, chromium (Cr) about 19.5-20.5%, molybdenum (Mo) about 6-6.5%, copper (Cu) about 0.5-1%, nitrogen (N) about 0.18-0.22%, titanium (Ti) about 0.6-1%, iron (Fe) remainder.
The specific gravity is about 8.0-8.2 g/cm3.
The following are the production standards, forging, heat treatment, cold working, corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, performance and welding material grades of S31254, as well as some common application areas:
1. Production standards: ASTM A240, ASTM A312, ASTM A269, ASTM A479, etc.
2. Forging: S31254 can be processed by conventional hot forging process.
3. Heat treatment: S31254 can be solution annealed in the range of 1050-1150 degrees Celsius and then cooled by rapid cooling (e.g. water quenching or air cooling) to obtain the best corrosion resistance.
4. Cold working: S31254 has good cold working properties and can be processed by cold rolling and cold drawing.
5. Corrosion resistance: S31254 has excellent corrosion resistance, especially for some strong acids, alkalis and chloride media with high corrosion resistance.
6. Mechanical properties: S31254 has excellent strength and toughness, and can still maintain good mechanical properties at high temperature.
7. Performance: S31254 has good wear resistance, heat fatigue resistance and resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
8. Welding material grades: Commonly used welding material grades include AWS ERNiCrMo-3 (UNS N06625) and AWS ER2594 (UNS S32750), etc.
9. Application areas: S31254 is widely used in offshore engineering, chemical industry, oil and gas processing, food processing, etc. It is especially suitable for equipment and piping systems in corrosive media environments.
10. Welding performance: S31254 has good welding performance and can be welded by conventional welding methods, such as manual arc welding, argon arc welding, resistance welding and so on. When welding, the corresponding welding materials and welding process should be selected to ensure the quality and corrosion performance of the weld.
11. Other properties: S31254 has good wear resistance, creep resistance, oxidation resistance and stress corrosion cracking resistance, which gives it excellent stability and reliability under extreme environmental conditions.
12. Relevant standards: S31254 complies with international standards such as ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and EN (European Standard), such as ASTM A240, ASTM A312, ASTM A269, ASTM A479, EN 1.4547 and so on.
13. Corrosion resistance: S31254 has excellent corrosion resistance to many strong acids (e.g., sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid), strong bases (e.g., sodium hydroxide), and chloride media (e.g., seawater, chloride solutions), and is therefore widely used in marine environments and chemical processes.
14. Product form of S31254: S31254 stainless steel can be made into plate, tube, bar, weld material and other forms to meet the needs of different fields and applications.
15. Typical application areas: S31254 is commonly used in the marine and petroleum industries in seawater treatment equipment, desalination units, petroleum refining equipment, pipelines and valves in chloride environments, chemical equipment, food processing equipment, and other fields, especially in the corrosion resistance requirements of high occasions.
Overall, S31254 is a high-alloyed stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance, mechanical properties and weldability for industrial applications in a variety of harsh environments.
